Cornelius Real Estate
Cornelius Real Estate Information
Nestled between Charlotte and Statesville off Interstate 77, the Cornelius Real Estate region is anchored by marvelous Lake Norman, sometimes referred to as the “inland sea” of North Carolina. The Lake offers 520 miles of shoreline and the 29,000 residents of Cornelius take full advantage of the Lake’s amenities.
Cornelius Real Estate continues to grow at a rapid rate. While the US Census states Mecklenburg County’s population grew approximately 44% from 1990 to 2003, Cornelius’ population grew an astounding 460% in that same time period. But don’t let the rapid growth fool you. This town still has an unmistakable heritage giving it the charm of a small town while offering the entertainment, dining and recreation many families desire.
Cornelius Real Estate Gains Strength through Economic Development
In an innovative and strategic move, the Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation was formed in 2003 to focus on economic development in Huntersville Real Estate, Cornelius Real Estate and Davidson Real Estate—hoping to ensure these communities thrive for years to come. Together, the three towns have developed an Interlocal Agreement sharing both development costs as well as tax revenues.
Cornelius NC History
Originally a mill and farm community established in 1905, Cornelius real estate has adapted and changed with the times. Both the cotton mill industry and the damming of the Catawba River to form Lake Norman have been influential to the town’s success over the years. The town derives its name from Joseph Benjamin Cornelius who supplied the initial investment to the town’s first cotton mill.
